2026 Summer Solstice Message

from
Cie Simurro

Happy First Day of Summer, although judging by the temperature range we’ve been having here in Western Massachusetts and many other places, you’ve been experiencing rising temperatures for a while now. It’s only the middle of June as I write this outside on my deck, and most of the week it’s been at least 80 degrees and very sunny, even in the hilltowns.

Bees, swallowtail butterflies, and multiple species of ants also came out early. I love it that every Spring, on the road where I do my fast walk, the yellow swallowtails start out with one or two flying past me. Pretty soon their numbers increase until that pivotal day when 12 or 13 fly madly around if I walk or drive past. I think their large numbers can be accounted for because the entire road, only one-half mile long, and surrounded by woods has just one house at the very end, so there’s seldom traffic.

My love for Yellow Swallowtails began when I was living in North Carolina for a few years. One day, a male yellow swallowtail got severely blown back from our mailbox by a big truck. I rescued him and let him stand freely on my hand, but he decided after a bit to hang out on my cheek. Ultimately, he spent the night on the crown of my head. In the morning, he was better, so I took him into the garden and he happily flew away to live out his life free.

When I am walking, I also try not to step on the ants darting back and forth. Why? Just because they’re small doesn’t mean their lives aren’t worthwhile. They deserve to live, especially in their own territory. Ants are so smart, especially when they act cooperatively within their highly organized colony, for the survival and growth of their whole community.

Since Ebbie has passed into the world of spirit, I spend a lot more time looking out my kitchen window at the birds coming to my birdfeeder. I especially like to watch the gorgeous cardinal couple who come together to the feeder. The male especially, is very aware of all that is going on around him and gives signals to the female.

In addition to the birds, three squirrels began coming around daily. One especially, would always leap onto the house-shaped feeder from a nearby tree branch and swing back and forth on it while gorging on the birdseed. I tried putting some birdseed on the ground, but the squirrel wouldn’t give up swinging. I even tried moving the wrought iron pole from which the feeder hung, but my resident squirrel always found a way.

Finally, a good friend got me a squirrel-proof feeder. One day, I actually saw my squirrel visitor staring up at the feeder, trying to figure out how to get up there, and get enough food to make the effort worthwhile. For some minutes, I watched the squirrel trying to figure it out. Ultimately, it couldn’t find a way, and moved on, but watching that mind work was fascinating.

I’m happy to share with you two short videos that, like Mr. Squirrel, clearly depict the amazing intelligence many species can show. One depicts ants as having even better problem-solving abilities working together in a group than humans working separately, and the other literally shows a bee figuring out how to reach its “treat” food using a Styrofoam ball.

Over the course of some months, I’d been asking Spirit, the angels, even St. Francis for an alternative to us humans killing certain insects (like fruit flies, or ants that invade our houses en masse) and how we can live more peacefully with other species. I had just about given up getting an answer, when a friend told me about a U-tube video where a wonderful animal communicator named Anna Breytenbach from South Africa calmed a deeply abused black leopard named Diablo that no one else at the animal sanctuary he’d been rescued to, could do. You can actually see him get calm in real time. She does this by making sure first of all, that everything within herself is centered and loving. She and the wild animal communicate what they’re thinking back and forth. The leopard was soon re-named Spirit.

Since watching a couple of her videos, I’ve added her wisdom to my practice of going within to the love center of my soul-self in order to do rescue and communication experiences, including for ants, fruit flies, and even moths. In the last few days, a butterfly flew up to me and hovered around me, and on one of my walks, a deer stood staring at me nearby for a few minutes as I sent it love, before it continued up the hill. The next day, when the deer saw me again, it was unperturbed and continued grazing contentedly. For the rest of my life, I intend to continue sending love from my center, to all wildlife and for those animals who come to me for healing.

So, let’s make a shift this summer. Are we willing to be conduits of Solstice Light and Healing for Mother Earth, all of Nature, and the four Elements of Air, Fire, Water, and Earth? Yes, it takes presence of mind, and it takes caring, and a willingness to open our hearts, but the rewards are great. Experiences with the natural world will be deeper and more significant. You will know yourself as part of Creation. Perhaps some animal, bird, or insect will learn to trust you because of your non-threatening vibration. You will be contributing to the healing of the planet at this critical time – which helps all living beings. Nothing you do to help will be too small.

Let us remember that when we initiate a change, there is always a recoil, and in these times, it’s a big one. But hold on until the change is made. You wouldn’t be reading this now unless you were willing to fulfill your life mission and purpose – even if we did come in kicking and screaming (smile!) – because, there’s no denying we’re here to help save the Earth. So, let us learn to work together and collaborate for the good of all.

Let us begin by forgiving ourselves, instead of getting mad at ourselves when we don’t function at optimum levels. Then, let us serve all the rest of life with forgiveness, compassion, and love. As the energy of all who are willing to live and act with love increases in number, a quorum will be reached that can change interactions between people, organizations, and nations for the better.

I’d like to conclude with my poem, If I Were the Last Person on Earth, from my book, THE PATH OF LOVE; A WAY TO HEAL, which you can get on Amazon for only $12:

IF I WERE THE LAST PERSON ON EARTH

by

Cie Simurro

What if I were the last person alive

on Earth?

Who would I speak with?

Would the animals take pity on me?

Bring me food

Cuddle with me in a cave?

Would they share their habitats

with me?

Or would they be selfish,

Taking it all for themselves

as humans tend to do?

Would I be able to communicate

with them?

Understand their needs

more deeply than I ever have?

Interact with them as sentient beings?

I wish we humans would know

before it’s too late

how integral the animal kingdom is

to our happiness

and our lives

Imagine now,

a planet with no animals

No dogs or cats to play with

No wildlife for balance and beauty

No pollinators – no food!

How would your nature walks be?

Who would wake you

in the morning with birdsong,

or a cold, wet nose,

reminding you how to play?

What if we had the chance

for a do-over?

Would we appreciate them more?

Would we change our ways, to live

in harmony and blessing with them?

The Solstice takes place on June 21st beginning at 4:24 a.m. EDT.

Have a beautiful summer.

In kinship,

Cie
